Willy Ronis

Le Nu provencal, Gordes, 1949.

Ronis was fixing the plaster work in the loft when, in search of an implement, he passed by the bedroom and caught sight of his wife refreshing after a nap. 'I grabbed my camera and took four shots in under two minutes. The destiny of this image, published constantly across the world, still astonishes me.'
I have always loved this image and the description of why it was taken makes me love it more.
